Community Calendar: Sept. 24-30

• Meeker business leaders luncheon today at Kilowatt Korner from 1-2 p.m. The topic is enterprise zone tax credits, and an enterprise zone administrator will be on hand. Area businesses are eligible for state income tax credits when they create new jobs, invest in business property and job training and other development activities encouraged under the program. A free lunch will be provided by Wendll’s.

• Science Friday with Doc Bob. Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Meeker Public Library.

• Meeker Shooting Range closed 2-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Rifle range closed 9-11 a.m. Sept. 28.

• Mountain Valley Bank Fall Festival. Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in downtown Meeker.

• Milk Creek Battlefield Park Dedication. Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at Milk Creek Battlefield Park, 17 miles northwest of Meeker on County Rd. 15.

• Round Up Sunday at the Meeker United Methodist Church, 809 Park Ave., 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The morning service is planned with special music, and participation with a favorite Bible verse. After the service, everyone is invited to join us for a picnic in the backyard with our neighboring Catholic Church. UMM group is cooking hamburgers. Bring a salad or dessert to share. Fun games for the entire family are planned!

• Community Networking Group meets Tuesday. Noon- 1:30 p.m. in the Weiss Conference Room on the CNCC campus in Rangely. The guest speaker will be RE-4 School District Superintendent Mathew Scoggins, who will lead discussion regarding the upcoming school election on Nov. 3 and the School District Tax Override Ballot Question.

• Gentlemen’s Group. Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at the Meeker Recreation Center Lounge for adults 50+. Stop by for refreshments and conversation. ERBM Recreation & Park District 970-878-3403

• Game Day. Wednesdays at 9 a.m. at the Meeker Recreation Center Lounge for adults 50+. Stop by for refreshments, conversation, and a game of cards. ERBM Recreation & Park District 970-878-3403

• Children’s Story Hour. Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the Meeker Public Library.

• Fairfield grant applications due Oct. 1. The deadline for the Freeman E. Fairfield Foundation’s semi-annual grant application deadline is 5 p.m. on Oct. 1. Applications must either be mailed to P.O. Box 2302, Meeker, Colo. 81641 or delivered to Diane Dunham, 438 East Market St. in Meeker by 5 p.m. on that date. All mailed applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Oct. 1 as postmarks will not be accepted.
