White River and Douglas Creek conservation districts will have their annual banquet Jan. 23 at the Fairfield Center in Meeker. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., catered by Ma Famiglia.
All rural property owners are invited to attend. No membership is necessary to attend the banquet, or any conservation district events. However, there will be a charge for the annual meeting meal — $35 per couple, or $20 per individual and for extra meals.
The Colorado Association of Conservation Districts’ lobbyist, Tracee Bentley, will be the guest speaker. She will present information on legislation that affects farmers and ranchers in and around Rio Blanco County. She will also speak to the powers and duties of conservation districts and explain how local boards are a voice for the landowners and can, in fact, produce results in legislation.
In addition, local landowners will be honored for their conversation efforts. Each year, the boards vote on one landowner who has done extensive work toward natural resource conservation.
