RBC | The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Colorado State Patrol and law enforcement agencies in 11 counties support the Click It or Ticket campaign to save lives by increasing seat belt use at night.
Increased enforcement will take place between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. from now through Sunday in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Mesa, Pueblo and Weld counties.
“Regular seat belt use is the single most effective way to prevent serious injuries and save people from dying,” said Darrell Lingk, director of the Office of Transportation Safety at CDOT.
In 2012, 83 drivers and passengers were killed in crashes between 6 p.m. and 5:59 a.m. who weren’t wearing their seat belts compared to 76 people in the daytime.
