RBC I During the first two weeks of June, Macy Collins, Sam Lapp, Madi Shults and Ty Dunham attended the 2015 Colorado State University Animal Science Department Livestock Judging Camp.
The camp was hosted by the CSU Livestock Judging Team. Coach Shane Bedwell and his team put together a rigorous two and half days of livestock evaluation and oral reasons presentation.
The camps are used as a recruiting tool for future students at CSU.
Dunham, Shults and Lapp also attended an additional camp at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, during the first week in June.
The RBC 4-H team was invited to that camp by Texas Tech head coach Dr. Ryan Rathman, even after the registration deadline of May 1.
Former RBC 4-H and Meeker FFA judging alum Maclaine Shults was recruited by Dr. Rathman to attend Texas Tech this fall, and she was also asked to assist the current team with the camp.
As a bonus, Maclaine was told to bring her kid sister, Madi, and her team to camp.
So, with Rodney Dunham’s help, they packed their bags and headed for Texas Tech after a long awards night at the Colorado FFA Convention in Pueblo.
The 2015 season will come to a close at the state contest this week at CSU.
The results won’t be known this week, but should be available next week.
