RBC — The combined incidents for the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and the Meeker Police Department modestly increased during March 2009, with a 4.3 percent increase in activity compared to March 2008.
Total incidents received through the communications center increased to 1,019 in March 2009, up from 977 in March 2008. The number of calls for service increased for the sheriff’s office with 250 incidents in March 2009, up slightly from 243 in March 2008. Traffic stops increased significantly from 401 in March 2008 to 553 in March 2009 for the sheriff’s office.
The Meeker P.D. responded to 173 calls for service during March 2009, down from 190 in March 2008. Traffic stops for the Meeker P.D. decreased significantly with 24 stops in March 2009, down from 101 stops in March 2008.
Activity for both agencies includes these most notable classifications: 577 traffic stops; 81 VIN inspections; 38 animal calls; 37 suspicious incidents; 32 motorist assists; 27 traffic arrests; 19 warrant arrests; 15 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 15 citizen assists; 13 civil situations; 12 accidents with property damage; 11 incidents assisting other agencies; 11 traffic complaints; nine juvenile problems; eight thefts; seven DUIs; seven fraud cases; six fire calls; six property cases; four harassment cases; three disturbances; three restraining order violations; three trespass cases; two criminal mischief cases; one hit and run accident; one injury accident; one assault and one automobile theft.
The Rio Blanco County Detention Center experienced its first drop in average daily inmate population in months with a daily average of 14.97 inmates, with 11.35 males and 3.61 females during March 2009, down from a daily average of 25.21 during February 2009. The number of bookings increased in March 2009 with 83 people processed in the detention center, up from 69 bookings in February 2009. Of the 83 people processed 59 were jailed and 24 were booked and released. The number of meals served by the detention center decreased from 1,757 meals served in February 2009 to 1,201 meals served in March 2009.
