RBC I Rio Blanco County will again be selling herbicide and offering cost-share on select chemicals. The Rio Blanco County Weed Department will sell herbicide at the Fairgrounds in Meeker on Thursday mornings from 7-11:30 a.m. and delivering pre-orders to the Rangely area on Thursday afternoons starting May 2.
Folks from Rangely just need to call the weed department office (878-9670) ahead of time to pre-order their chemical.
The cost share program on chemicals will work as follows: for individuals who complete a management plan, a 50 percent cost-share will be available up to a maximum of $500. For individuals who do not complete a management plan, a 25 percent cost-share will be available up to a maximum of $250.
Cost-share dollars will be available on a first-come first-served basis. Chemicals such as 2, 4-D, non-selective chemicals like Roundup, surfactants and dyes are excluded from the cost-share program but will be available for purchase.
Management plans can be as simple or complex as you would like, but must contain the following: A map of the area where you will be spraying, and this can either be an aerial photo or hand drawn; include any relevant information such as property lines, nearby roads, creeks and weed species locations; on the back of your map or on a separate sheet, please list the chemicals you would like to use as well as the rates that they will be applied.
