Joe McPhail was the only Meeker runner to finish the race, in a time of 21:45.
“He had a rough start to the race,” said coach Kris Casey. “Although he was pushed and almost fell several times, Joe was able to recover and run a decent race.”
The Meeker cross country team has been beset with injuries.
“Lathrop Hughes is still out with a knee injury that he acquired during a JV football game two weeks ago,” Casey said. “Willis Begaye injured his ankle on Thursday last week during football practice, but it is not serious and he should be back running this week. Bailey Mantle hyperextended his knee warming up and started the race, but pulled out before the end of the race.”
Meeker’s next meet will be Oct. 2 at Fruita.
“I’m hoping since we have a break this weekend that by the 2nd, all injuries will be healed and we will be running with a full boys’ team,” Casey said.
