The first Cowboy test will start at 11 a.m.
Nineteen Cowboys are out for the team and led by lone senior Nick Burri, who plays first base.
The hometown Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead after the first inning against Hotchkiss, but the Cowboys scored three runs in the second and another in the third to take a 4-3 lead into the fourth inning, where neither team scored.
Meeker scored three more in the fifth and allowed the Bulldogs one. Both teams were blanked in the sixth and the Cowboys led 7-4 at the start of the final inning.
“We led 7-4 at the top of the seventh when we had to pull Logan Hughes due to him reaching his pitch count limit,” head coach Brian Merrifield said. “We ended up losing 18-7, then we couldn’t find the spark for the second game and lost 15-1.”
Doak Mantle and Ty Gibson both went two-for-three at the plate while Hughes, Hunter Garcia, Burri and Cooper Meszaros all got one base hit.
“The boys played some of their best baseball offensively and defensively in game one and we are looking forward to playing Hotchkiss again in April,” coach Merrifield said.
