MEEKER I The Meeker High School cross country team traveled to Grand Junction again for the Grand Junction High School Tiger Invitational meet Friday and they made improvements.
“We were a little short-handed due to illness and injury, but the weather cooperated and we had a good meet,” head coach Marty Casey said. “We had some nice improvement times and a good effort by all.”
Meeker senior Caleb Lange led the Cowboys, finishing the 5K in 19:01, and classmate Aaron Cochran ran the course in 20:16. Juniors Anthony Watt and Sam Lange ran together most of the race, with Watt crossing the finish line in 21:36 and Lange in 21:49.
Linda Olivas and Abbi Ibach were the only girls to run for Meeker in Grand Junction, where Olivas finished the course in 27:38 and Ibach ran it in 32:05.
Meeker will travel to Craig for the Moffat County Invitational at Loudy Simpson Park on Saturday. The girls’ race begins at 10 a.m. and will be followed by the boys’ race at 10:45 a.m.
