MEEKER — High school basketball coach Klark Kindler took 10 players to the state capitol last week to compete in the Gold Crown team tournament.
The Cowboys won five of eight games, in gyms ìall over the Denver area,” according to Kindler.
Colton Brown, Tyrel Gerloff, Dakota Rowlett, Clinton Kilduff, Ryan Wix, Mitch Jacob, Seth Boesch, Jake Nieslanik, Cole Steiner and Ever Olivas played in Denver last Thursday through Saturday.
The Cowboys beat teams from Elizabeth, Mucurdy, N.M. (twice), Mesa Ridge and Dolores Huete Prep.
“We played real well our last game and Dolores Huete,” Kindler said. Kindler was pleased with his team’s participation of off-season dedication.
“We had a really good summer,” Kindler said. “We had 18 kids participate in our summer basketball program.”
The Gold Crown tournament ended Meeker’s basketball program except for “open gym,” which Kindler said are held each Monday and Tuesday.
