MEEKER I Cub Scout Pack 91 invites all boys ages 6-10 (first through fifth grade) and their parents to a new member welcoming meeting on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds building at 779 Sulphur Creek Rd. New members will join current Cub Scouts in fun games and activities, and parents will be given an orientation on how Cub Scouting works and can help their children to benefit from the many opportunities provided by the Boy Scouts of America [BSA]. Meeker Cub Scouts have participated in many fun activities such as visiting fire and police departments, recreation center activities, the popular “Pinewood Derby” miniature race car contests, services to the community such as “Scouting for Food,” Fourth of July activities and much more.
Current Cub Scouts are asked to wear their uniforms and bring their books to the meeting with their parents. Millions of Americans have been Scouts since the program was founded in 1910, and many are distinguished leaders in all walks of life owing much of their success to the leadership skills, character building, values, citizenship, self-reliance, confidence and creative thinking they learned in the Scouting program as a youth. Meeker has had 19 Eagle Scouts since 1948 with Alema Atoafa and Collin Cochran being recognized for this rare and prestigious award in the last year.
Pack 91 is sponsored by the Meeker Lions Club and is a part of the Western Colorado Council, Boy Scouts of America. For more information please contact Shawnna Hossack at 878-4656 and see the website at http://www.wccbsa.org.
