Meeker Cub Scout Packs 91 and 190 celebrated the achievements of the Cub Scouts at the annual Blue and Gold Banquet Saturday, March 19 at the Fairfield Center. Pre-banquet entertainment was provided by Theresa and Stan Murray of Wacky Wonders Entertainers, who provided animal balloons for the delight of the Cubs and performed exciting magic tricks. A delicious pot luck pasta dinner was provided for the Cubs, parents, family and friends who attended.
Pack 91 and 190 Cub Scouts were recognized for achievements with the Bobcat pin and a variety of skill and achievement awards and included Tiger Cub Den members (first grade), Wolf Den members (second grade) and Bear Den Members (third grade). Fourth and fifth grade Cubs will be in the Webelos Den where they will prepare to become Boy Scouts when they finish Cub Scouting’s highest award, the Arrow of Light.
Pack 91 and 190 Cubs were also recognized for building and racing their Pinewood Derby cars on Feb. 23 at the LDS church.
Scouting For Food Project
A community service project called Scouting for Food is being conducted by the pack, which will seek to collect non-perishable foodstuffs such as canned, packaged or boxed foods during the next three weeks. Boxes marked Scouting for Food will be placed by each Cub Scout in various local businesses. Anyone wishing to contribute may bring their food donations to local businesses and place them in the containers. Scouts will check boxes periodically and transfer donations to the local food bank. There is a great need for donations as quantities and varieties of foodstuffs at the food bank are very limited.
Cub Scout Activities
Other scouting activities have included visits to the Meeker Police Department and Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Department, craft projects and much more. The next meeting will include a tour of the White River Museum.
Cub Scout Pack 91 is sponsored by the Meeker Lions Club. Cub Scout Pack 190 is sponsored by the LDS Church. Membership is open to all boys in first through fifth grade.
