MEEKER | Annie Ellis, owner of Flora Bellas flower shop in Meeker, has known Gary Dunham and JR Lantz since she was a teenager. Finding out both had been diagnosed with cancer came as quite a blow. To help with their medical expenses, Ellis has organized a benefit dance. Tickets for the dance are $10 per person and can be purchased at Flora Bellas or at the door. The dance will be held at the Fairfield Center, from 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Oct. 15. “We’ll have donation boxes set up, for people who want to do more than the ticket price,” Ellis said. “And we’re going to have LED balloons for sale that will be released outside during the dance.” Attendees can have photos taken at the dance by Dale Hallebach. Michelle Cox, local photographer, will be offering two family photo packages in a silent auction. All proceeds will go toward Lantz’s and Dunham’s medical expenses. Light refreshments will be provided and although the dress code on the poster says “semi-formal or formal,” Ellis encourages folks to dress as they please.
