Surveyor Dan Moog continues to locate good claims for incoming settlers.

J.F. Hay has bought 200 acres of the finest land in Powell Park from S.P. Wear.

Frank Loring and family moved into the new station on Miller Creek last week.
n J.P. Neilson has bought the Armit ranch. This makes him one of the largest land owners in the Oakridge Park District.

The first baccalaureate service ever held in Meeker for graduating seniors was held at St. James’ church.

Heaviest snow storm on record blanketed Meeker this morning. Two weather records broken this week, highest temperature, heaviest snow.

Forrest F. Nelson, a member of our senior class in Meeker high school, won a scholarship from the Centennial Foundation.

At Don’s Market, 50 juice oranges for $1. Swanson’s TV dinners, 65 cents each. Cucumbers, fresh, 12 cents each.

Jim Lancaster led Meeker to a district track title at Rangely.

Meeker High School to graduate 52 seniors this weekend.

Dear Mr. Cook: Though there have been rumors of Pioneers Hospital closing, I feel that it would be a great loss to the community of Meeker if we lost this facility.

Rock School teacher Jayme Amick will be on of many Piceance Creek residents who’ll be sad to see the historic building closed at the conclusion of this week’s school.

Rio Blanco County Little Britches Rodeo Royalty this year includes 2nd attendant Molly Turner, Princess Hallie Turner, and 1st Attendant Katrina Theos.

The Rangely Times — 50 years ago

This year’s Rangely Days rodeo queen is Miss Diana Sizemore. Her attendants are Miss Zandra Mobley and Miss Janey Jones.

Rangely Days Rodeo May 28-29. Calf roping, bronc riding, steer riding, bare bronc, bulldogging. Sponsored by the Rangely Saddle Club with the aid of Rio Blanco County.

Rangely High School class of 1980 valedictorian: Mikie Golden. Co-salutatorians: Teri Striegel and Ricky Brenton.

Rangely Days Rodeo Queen tryouts held. Michelle Castor will be queen, with attendant Elaine Horn.

Ricky Schroeder, the famous movie star, had an occasion to be in Rangely May 16, 1990. He dropped in at the Rangely Post Office to pick up a package that had been sent to him. He was accompanied by his father. Vicki McPhail was the lucky lady that waited on him (and got his autograph).

Jason Gibbs of Cub Scout Pack 189 recently earned the rank of Arrow of Light.

Elaine Brenton was the Rangely High School Prom Queen for 1990.
