The Meeker Herald — 100 years ago
• Six graduates celebrated the end of the 1909 school year in Meeker, three girls and three boys.
• Leroy Cure and Amanda Skaggs were married by Rev. Willbanks last Sunday, May 16.
• Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Hunt from San Fransisco are expected in this evening. Mr. Hunt is one of the mainstays in trying to show that Rio Blanco county possesses one of the most promising oil fields in the country.
• The dance Thursday night given by the Home Security association, was a very pleasant affair. The attendance was not large, just enough for all to enjoy themselves.

• Miss Jo Ann Ottosen delivered the valedictorian address for the 29-member graduating class of 1959.
• Evelyn Florence Jensen and James L. Dunn were married in a pretty home wedding.
• Pupils of Mrs. Iris Franklin and Mr. William Bright, sixth grade teachers, went by bus to Grand Junction on May 9 to tour some of the industries of that city: Clymer’s Dairy, The Daily Sentinel, Frontier Airlines, Mesa College, and the Gilsonite Plant.

• Kristy Hughes was the highest ranking senior in the 52 member graduating class of 1984 at Meeker High School.
• Mudslides caused damage to the Wilson Creek area.
• Construction began for a new hamburger restaurant on Market Street, Clark’s Big Burgers, owned by Brian and Brenda Clark of Grand Junction. The Clarks have two similar restaurants in Delta and Montrose.
• Nettie Faye Modlin and Sue Ann Smith hosted a bridal shower for Dottie Jens.
The Rangely Times — 50 years ago
• Twenty-eight seniors were graduated from Rangely High School in 1959. Valedictory address was given by Walter Weiss and the salutatory address by Barbara Sowards.
• “We’ve met a lot of people who thought that they had ‘too much church when I was young.’ We’ve yet to meet one who thought he had too much food or fun or money. Yet ‘You can’t take it with you’ doesn’t apply to the church.”
• State champion Tom Raebourn won the Class A 220-yard dash Saturday in Boulder.
The Rangely Times — 35 years ago
• Rangely High School graduated 51 seniors in the class of 1974.
• “We have decided against publishing any more letters pro or con about the hospital staff problems. After a number of weeks of reading such letters, we believe that the public is sufficiently informed about it.”
• Pat Thompson was the first person to lose 100 pounds at Weight Watchers from the Rangely area.
The Rangely Times — 20 years ago
• The RHS class of 1989 had 51 graduating seniors. Class valedictorian honors were shared by Kelli Collins and Jarrod McDonald.
• Hospital discussion only big item in routine meeting.
• “Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society.” ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes.
• Carlos Graham and Dannette Atwood announced their engagement.
