DINOSAUR I The celebration of Dinosaur National Monument’s 100th anniversary culminates this weekend with a variety of events. Entrance fees will be waived Saturday and Sunday to welcome everyone to join in the festivities and to say thank you to our visitors and local communities.
On Friday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Uintah County Heritage Museum will host a closing reception for the Dinosaur Centennial Art Exhibit in Vernal. The exhibit is now open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday. On Saturday, the Quarry Visitor Center and Quarry Exhibit Hall will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors may drive to the quarry from 9 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. From 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., visitors will park at the visitor center and a free shuttle will run every 15 minutes. Cake will be served at the Quarry Visitor Center starting at 1:30 p.m. Presentations in the Quarry Visitor Center auditorium will feature a talk by Mary Douglass titled “Growing Up with My Grandfather” at 2 p.m. and a fossil show and tell by current park paleontologist Dan Chure from 2:15 to 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Quarry Visitor Center, Quarry Exhibit Hall and Canyon Visitor Center return to regular hours.
