DOW shooting, fishing event is May 22

MEEKER I The Northwest Colorado Outfitters Chapter, Colowyo Coal Company, Safari Club International and the Colorado Division of Wildlife will host a family “Cast ’n Blast” event on Saturday, May 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include shotgun and rifle shooting, archery, bait fishing and fly fishing. Training is provided and no previous experience is needed.
The entire event is free and includes a free lunch, however, pre-registration is required and space is limited. All equipment including firearms and fishing equipment are provided but families can bring their own fishing equipment if desired. As this is an outdoor event, it is recommended that families bring layers of clothing and sunscreen. Participants 16 and older need to have a current fishing license to participate in the event. The event will be held in the Axial Basin area between Meeker and Craig. For questions or to sign up, contact the Division of Wildlife Meeker office at 878-6090.
