The word for the week is collaboration, which has come up in multiple (otherwise unrelated) conversations and meetings.
What is collaboration? It’s what the county’s IT department accomplished in 2014 when they successfully negotiated the broadband project that will bring Rio Blanco County into the lead in regard to internet access.
It’s what the Rio Blanco County Historical Society accomplished when the Rangely Outdoor Museum board shared the history of Rangely at the society’s quarterly meeting.
It’s what the Town of Meeker and the county are seeking to accomplish in the development of the Outdoor Adventure Center with private investors and public support.
By definition, collaboration is a double-edged sword. On the one hand it’s defined as working together to produce or create something. On the other hand, it’s traitorous cooperation with an enemy. Your perspective (last week’s word) may well be the deciding factor in how you see collaboration.
We moved our offices from the center suite in the Hugus Building to the front suite. It’s smaller, but we have windows! If you’ve ever worked in a windowless office, you understand our joy. We now have a bird’s-eye (or bug’s eye, as my grandchildren were fascinated by the box elder bugs they spotted on the ledge) view of Meeker’s downtown hub. We’re planning an open house in the next few months, but if you’re in the neighborhood, stop in and check it out.
