RANGELY I Encana Oil & Gas, Inc. has awarded the Rangely School District a $10,500 grant to assist the school district’s efforts to create a learning community dedicated to higher achievement and development in the 2012/2013 school year. The award funds 21 mini-grants that will provide teachers and staff with the resources needed to continue to make Rangely schools top-quality institutions. The first eight of the 21 grants were awarded on Thursday, Oct. 4 and ranged from library supplies to science kits.
“The school district is appreciative of the generosity shown by Encana,” Rangely superintendent Todd Cordrey said. “Each day our teachers work hard to do their best for our children, and Encana makes their work easier and more productive.”
The 21 mini-grants will help teachers make the classroom a more exciting and productive learning environment. The grants provide funds for creative learning tools to inspire students to meet statewide requirements. Programs included parachutes to foster teamwork and cooperation, rock and mineral test kits for earth science classes and an extension of the district’s anti-bullying program.
“It is important to all of us at Encana to support local schools by providing funds to meet classroom needs,” said Sandy Kent, community relations at Encana. “We are thrilled to be able to provide the Rangely School District with the funds to create an innovative learning environment and foster student success.”
Rangely School District and Encana will present the second round of mini-grants on Jan. 17, 2013.
