For the second year in a row, Encana Oil & Gas, Inc. has awarded the Rangely School District with a $10,500 grant dedicated to helping enhance the innovation and creativity in Rangely classrooms.
The grant funds 21 teacher-driven initiatives ranging from a “Stand up to Bullying” program to graphing calculators for advanced math classes.
“We believe it is important to fund programs that make a difference in the classroom,” said Sandy Kent, the community relations advisor at Encana. “That is what makes the mini-grant program so unique because it allows teachers to personalize the learning environment and optimize student success.”
Through the mini-grant program, teachers are given the opportunity to get funding for creative learning tools that might not be included in the district’s normal budget and curriculum.
As kids head back to school, they can expect to see new textbooks, science fair supplies, new weight room equipment and a new phonics program.
The District Accountability Committee awards mini-grants during the board’s four annual public meetings.
Encana’s goal is to be the highest-growth, lowest-cost senior natural gas producer in North America.
“Our company’s industry-leading approach to resource development, called resource play hub, fosters the technological innovation and enterprise-wide collaboration key to achieving the highest levels of capital and operating efficiency,” Kent said. “Encana takes great pride in being a responsible corporate citizen and strives to be a good neighbor by working with communities to understand and support their needs.
“Our community investment programs are strategically aligned to help educate people on the importance of environmental stewardship, boost local economies and enhance the skill sets of the next generation of industry leaders.”
