Entities need your help

Dear Editor:
The towns of Meeker and Rangely, and Rio Blanco County need your help!
Economic development in Rio Blanco County has many facets. The towns of Rangely, Meeker and Rio Blanco County are working within District 11 of the governor’s initiative to create a regional and countywide economic plan. We need your help to move this process forward. Please take a 12-question online survey to begin the process and forward the survey to as many other residents and businesses as possible. The online address for the survey is  www.advancecolorado.com/bottomup. The survey takes just a few minutes and will be compiled for each county and city/town.
The governor has stated that he does not want his administration and the states focus to be Denver-centric. The governor is proposing that all 14 districts across the state be able to economically stand on their own. The objective is to move hurdles out of the way to further our growth. My hope is that this process is sincere and we will be afforded consideration for our issues and our industry, which is vital to our economy. I would also hope that we can strengthen our existing industries and find a path to diversify our economy, thereby stabilizing the ebb and flow experienced in this area.
Beyond the survey, we will begin a public initiative facilitated by the governor’s office through DOLA to narrow the field of topics and prioritize the top five or six things that inhibit our economy and the top initiatives that we should explore moving forward to grow our economy. Please take a few minutes and complete the survey.
Thank you,
Peter Brixius – Town Manager
