MEEKER I Thirty-five runners took part in the third annual Zombie Run on Saturday (Halloween) morning, starting early at Sanderson Hills Park.
The runners had to escape the zombies hiding out on the trails of Phillip & Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park. Some of the runners were survivors and some became infected with zombie dust.
Youth, adults, businesses and more helped make Saturday afternoon’s Pumpkins Eats ‘n’ Treats event a success. Hosted by the ERBM Recreation and Park District, Halloween Saturday was filled with candy, a haunted house, and costume contests for all.
The Old West Heritage Culture Center was home to this year’s haunted house, with hundreds of brave souls walking through the haunted rooms. Screams were heard by many when spooked by haunted house ghouls from the FCCLA group.
Many a Meeker business was found handing out candy, treats and other goodies along Main Street for the hordes of trick-or-treaters. The businesses made this a great event for the kids!
The day concluded with the parade of costumes and costume contest.
This year’s participants had so many creative, scary and unique costumes that it was hard to pick winners.
Winners of the costume contests were:
Most Creative: Winners were KISS/Gene Simmons (Shane Kobald) and George Washington (Ben Houser). And an “I Love Lucy” costume.
