MEEKER I Freshman Julia Eskelson and senior Caleb Lange will represent Meeker High School in the 2013 Colorado State Cross Country Championships in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
“We had a good showing at the 2A Regional meet in Delta,” Meeker head cross country coach Marty Casey said. “Several of our runners posted personal bests.”
Four boys and two girls ran in the regional meet. Lange finished in 13th place and Eskelson finished in eighth.
“Caleb broke the 18-minute mark (17:57) for the first time, and Julia had a great race as well; she had a personal best (20:43) for the season.”
Anthony Watt, Sam Lange and Bailey Mantle also ran in the boys’ race and Katie Harman also ran in the girls’ race.
“Katie has been running with ankle pain but persevered to finish off the season,” Casey said. “Anthony and Sam were under 21 minutes (20:48 and 20:56, respectively) for the first time this year, and Bailey was under 22 (21:54).”
“I am very proud of the whole team and I’m excited to see Julia and Caleb represent the Cowboys at the state championship meet,” Casey said.
The 2013 Colorado State Cross Country Championships will be held at Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs, where Eskelson will run at 9:20 a.m. and Lange will run with the other 2A boys at 11:30 a.m.
