RANGELY — The climax of the swim season for Andrew Morton was swimming in the Colorado State Long Course Championship Swim Meet.
He joined hundreds of swimmers, most of whom swim year-round, at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs July 24-27. Morton qualified for the following events: 50 backstroke, 100 back, 50 free, 50 breast and 100 breast.
Morton competed well with his top place being in his 50 back. He came in with a good time but was able to improve it shaving off nearly three seconds to get a place in the finals. During the finals he dug deep and took off another half second with a time of 35.51 and finished with sixth place in the state.
His other results were: 50 free 10th 31.54, 50 breast 14th 42.98, 100 breast 24th 1:45.41 and 100 back 26th 1:24.36.
