MEEKER I White River Electric Association experienced an unplanned outage to the town of Meeker Substation on July 14 for approximately one hour.
The problem occurred after routinely replacing a voltage regulator in the town substation. A switch failed upon re-energization, sustaining an electric fault that was interrupted by power fuses within the substation. The resulting outage was necessary to replace damaged equipment and power fuses.
The planned construction of the WREA Sulphur Creek Substation will mitigate this type of outage by providing an additional source of power to the town of Meeker, while necessary maintenance is done to the only substation serving the town, said Dick Welle, WREA general manager.
