MEEKER I The new Family Dollar outlet in Meeker will be open to the public on Nov. 21.
The store, located at 184 Market St. in Meeker, is opening on schedule, Family Dollar public relations manager Bryn R. Winburn told the Herald Times.
Family Dollar is the owner of the store as the corporation does not offer franchises. There are currently more than 8,000 Family Dollar outlets in 46 states.
Winburn said that Family Dollar is not a true “dollar store” where everything in the outlet is $1 or less.
“Family Dollar is a discount retailer that carries national name brands and quality private brands,” he said. “At Family Dollar, shoppers will find a wide variety of health and beauty, household, pet and seasonal items as well as an expanded assortment of refrigerated and frozen goods. Plus, Family Dollar offers clothing and apparel for men, women and children.
“This store will represent the best that Family Dollar has to offer in our expanded assortment as well as new layout,” Winburn said. “We are excited to open this new store and give our neighbors in the area a great reason to shop with us for the things they need and use every day.”
Due to privacy issues and to avoid employee staffing problems, Winburn said, “Unfortunately, I am unable to release the names of our team members at this store.”
The Meeker store front has for weeks directed potential employees to sign up through the company website at www.familydollar.com.
“We are still accepting applications for employment at our Meeker store, and I would invite anyone interested in going to the Internet site and filling out an online application,” Winburn said.
