MEEKER | Bundle up, grab your fishing rod, and join ERBM Recreation and Park District and Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff (CPW) for a day of ice fishing at Lake Avery on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CPW will be on hand to provide all of the necessary equipment along with knowledge on how to ice fish, types of fish, and the environment in which the fish live. ERBM will provide a free lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., cooked and served by the Meeker Lions Club. Shortly after lunch there will be a drawing for a variety of prizes.
A valid Colorado fishing license is required for all participants 16 and older. For more information contact a local licensing agent or visit Colorado Parks and Wildlife online.
This event is weather dependent. If the ice is deemed unsafe the event will be cancelled. The decision to cancel will be made on Dec. 29 and will be advertised in the Jan. 3 Herald Times and on the ERBM Facebook page.
Directions to Lake Avery:
Take County Road 8 upriver 22 miles. Take a left at the Lake Avery sign and follow the road up to the parking lot.
