MEEKER | A three-man scramble Saturday will be the first tournament of the season at the Meeker Golf Course.
“It’s a one-day deal, 27 holes,” said Meeker golf pro Jim Cook of the Shelton Welding-sponsored event.
The following Saturday is the third annual Tucker Memorial Golf Tournament on May 1, in honor of the late coach Bob Tucker.
“I knew him really well,” local golf pro Cook said. “He was my high school football coach. We went all the way to the state finals with him in 1968, so I have great respect for the man.”
The tournament is a fundraiser for a high school scholarship, awarded each spring in recognition of the longtime Meeker coach and teacher.
“I think it’s a great tribute to the man and they are raising scholarship money for the kids, so how can you wrong?” Cook said.
Registration deadline for the Tucker tournament is April 28. Call 878-5642.

RANGELY | Cedar Ridges Golf Course will host its first tournament May 8.
The event is called Bernie’s Tourney and is named for golf course Bernie Shafer.
“It’s a four-person scramble, but Bernie gets to set up the course however he wants,” said Rangely golf pro Chris Hejl.
Following Bernie’s Tourney, the next tournament at Cedar Ridges is the Memorial Day Best Ball on May 29.
