MEEKER | Saturday, May 19 was the first of the 2018 golf tournaments held at the Meeker Golf Course. The 27-hole, two-man scramble hosted 28 teams and was dominated by Meeker residents. The tournament was flighted by team handicap with two divisions. Meeker Golf Course is a nine-hole, par 34 course, par 68 on 18, with sand traps, trees and water obstacles, as well as the dreaded ninth hole that is uphill.
The first flight gross was won by Kyle Hooks and Mark Litzelman of Meeker, Colo., with a par of 89. First net in this flight went to Pat and Andy Coryell of Meeker whose handicap was 13 giving them par of 81 on the course.
The second flight included Dean Klinkerman of Fowler, Colo., the only winner who does not hail from Meeker, and Brandon Grasmick of Meeker. Their par was 97. Pat Hughes along with son Logan Hughes took first net with a par of 81 and handicap of 19.
The next tournament, a Ladies Deerfly Tournament, is June 9.
