Four youths fare well with livestock

RBC I On Oct. 15, four local youths competed and placed in many classes at the Northern International Livestock Exposition in Billings, Mont.
Macy Collins, Trevor Austin, Tristan Hall and Destinee Bland competed in the Junior Livestock Evaluation contest, and the trip was coordinated by Bonnie Long.
After some pretty difficult classes of wool sheep and a contest dominated by beef classes, the group emerged with plaques and medals for Third Place High Team Overall.
As a team, they were second in reasons, second in swine, third in beef and fourth in sheep.
As individuals, Collins was second in hogs, first in beef, third in reasons and sixth in high individual overall.
Hall was fourth in sheep, sixth in beef and ninth place in high individual overall.
Austin was sixth in sheep, 14th in reasons and 11th overall.
Bland had a highly difficult contest especially with data classes, but she a respectable 18th place in hogs.
The kids are currently preparing speeches for a beef speech contest and the big show at the NJSA in Louisville, Ken., where they are going to be involved in everything.
Torie Slagle will be assisting as a resource leader in preparing the students for this exciting show with contests in photography, swine judging, public speaking, extemporaneous speaking, Knowledge Bowl, Skillathon and Quiz Bowl.
