RANGELY I “We played our best game since the Meeker Shootout,” Rangely High School girls’ basketball coach Quinton Kent said. “We are starting to play together, which has been difficult in this injury-ridden season.”
Kent’s team got a huge boost from the freshmen, combining to score 21 of the team’s 44 points in the game and certainly giving new hope to the Panthers
Kayte Allred led all scorers with 10 points followed by classmate Lindzey Thacker with eight. Senior Aimee Hogan and Desiree Coombs also added to the total. The outstanding team effort found eight players scoring for the Panthers and they found consistency in offensive production in every quarter.
Rangely fell behind 16-9 in the first quarter but stayed close going into halftime. Tessa Slagle led the team in rebounds with seven followed by Simone Heinle and Thacker, each with four.
Rangely was unable to take the lead but played much better basketball against West Grand, according to their coach.
“If we can keep some consistency as far as who we will have playing, we will continue to build,” Kent said.
The Panthers play Plateau Valley this week, when they hope to build on their teamwork and continue scoring consistently.
