MEEKER I Dale Frisby, who is a regular at Meeker High School sporting events, will be the grand marshal of Friday’s MHS homecoming parade.
“I haven’t missed many games since 1948, when I got out of the Navy,” Frisby said.
A World War II veteran, Frisby returned to Meeker after the war and opened a greenhouse, along with his wife, Emma Lou. He also had a flower shop.
For many years, Frisby was a bus driver and later ran the transportation department for the school district. He served as the county assessor for 12 years and was a county commissioner for four years.
Frisby was graduated from Rio Blanco High School in 1945, when he was student body president and senior class vice president. He was also captain of the basketball team.
Frisby and his wife have two children: Lance Frisby and Vicky Frisby-Tate. They have four grandchildren: Amanda, Kelsey, Alex and Christina.
The homecoming parade down Main Street will start at 2 p.m. The theme is “circus.”
