The arrival of a helicopter on Main Street in Meeker last Saturday had some folks wondering what was going on, but the 160 or so attendees of the fundraiser for the Meeker International Ecology Program’s Galapagos trip knew what was up. Classic Air Medical donated a 20-minute helicopter ride for the event’s silent auction. Pictured are seven of the eight Meeker High School students who are going on the trip in June: Hadley Franklin, Hamp Hightower, Aspen Merrifield, Alana Nielsen, Savannah Mendenhall, Gabriel Richardson and Jose Garcia. Not pictured is Mason Holliday, who was at Adams State for Honor Choir. The winner of the helicopter ride was Kelly Sheridan.
