Gambill receives six months probation

MEEKER | It’s been almost six months since a 5×5 mule deer buck that roamed Meeker’s streets was shot with an arrow and had to be put down by officials the following day. Public outcry over the incident forced the Meeker Police Department to pull a Facebook post after just a few hours when comments became threatening toward those responsible for the deer’s injury.
According to Assistant District Attorney Steve Mallory, Taylor Shane-Thomas Gambill, 19, of Lakewood, Colo., pleaded guilty to a charge of hunting in a careless manner. He’ll lose 20 points on his hunting license, serve six months of probation and has to pay all court costs and fines. He also has to do restorative justice with the Colorado Department of Wildlife and useful public service. If he completes probation and all other requirements, the other charges filed against him—failure to locate wounded game, hunting out of season, illegal possession and hunting without a license—will be dropped from his record.
