Geothermal test drilling begins

MEEKER I During the week of Sept. 26, Rio Blanco County will have heavy equipment operating on the courthouse lawn.  The county is currently evaluating the courthouse property to determine if the location is suitable for the installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system that would serve the existing courthouse and any future renovations or additions. The heavy equipment will be used to drill a water well test hole approximately 500 feet allowing us to perform conductivity testing to determine the feasibility of installing a geothermal system. Rio Blanco County apologizes for any disruptions to the general public while this equipment is in operation. If you have any questions about this project or the activity that will be taking place on the courthouse lawn, please call 970-878-9436 or email
