MEEKER — Meeker’s board of trustees appointed Rodney Gerloff to fill the trustee position vacated by Chris Ham at the Nov. 18 meeting. Gerloff and former trustee Andy Thomson both submitted letters of interest for the seat. After meeting with each candidate, the board chose Gerloff, who was present at the meeting. He’ll be officially sworn in at the Dec. 10 board meeting.
“I’m thrilled to pieces there are two people who stepped forward and expressed an interest in doing their civic duty for their town. I’m very impressed with both candidates,” said Mayor Mandi Etheridge. She thanked Thomson “on the record” for expressing interest in resuming his former position on the board. “It’s nice to see that the interest is out there, and I hope that at the next election, hopefully, we will have a very good election,” Etheridge added.
The board held a public hearing to accept the 2009 proposed budget. The budget will be adopted at the next meeting. There were no comments from the public regarding the proposed budget.
Trustees accepted the appointment of Cindy Cunningham as manager of the Meeker Hotel and Cafe. Hotel and restaurant liquor licenses require the appointment of an approved manager for the establishment.
Lynn Lockwood, representing the Smoking River Pow Wow committee, requested permission to have a pile of manure transferred from the county fairgrounds to the “dance circle” at Ute Park.
