MEEKER — Appointment of a new town of Meeker trustee was delayed Tuesday, after two letters of interest for the position were received by town staff.
Former trustee Andy Thomson and former police officer and local businessman Rodney Gerloff have placed their names in the hat to fill the vacancy created by Trustee Chris Ham’s resignation.
“We’ve got two incredibly good candidates to choose from,” Mayor Mandi Etheridge said. Thomson has served one term as a trustee in the past, choosing not to run for re-election when his seat came up for a vote.
Gerloff is a former Meeker police officer and the current owner of two local businesses.
Neither candidate was present at the meeting.
The board requested a meeting with the candidates prior the next board meeting, Nov. 18. The open meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Mayor Etheridge appointed trustee Regas Halandras to serve as mayor pro tem.
In other business, the board:
n Approved a water rate increase in a public hearing. There was no one present from the public for discussion.
n Approved the renewal of a 3.2 percent beer/wine liquor license for Great Wall, LLC.
n Approved easement agreement for storm drain between the Sepics, RBC and the town.
n Approved a planning commission recommendation concerning annual re-licensing for the Finley, Sizemore and White River mobile home parks. Temporary permits were approved for GIC Circle and Riverview mobile home parks to allow owners and residents time to meet required conditions.
n The traffic study on Market St. to determine the need for a stoplight will cost the town $9,000. The traffic count began Monday and will last one week.
