This is quite an accomplishment when considering the field at Western regionals.
There were 12 teams competing in the tournament with only the winning team sending their entire team, then the next top 10 scorers would advance.
Rangely’s Marshal Way shot a score of 83 and finished in eighth place.
Nick Burri shot an 86 and was at the cut-off point to make it in the 10th spot.
Robert Dunker turned in a season-low score and came out ahead of several golfers. However, he was not fortunate enough to make it to the state tourney.
Way and Burri have all this week to prepare and then will travel to get a practice round in before the first official round at state on Monday, Sept. 29.
The state tournament is a two-day event, making it a 36-hole tournament of play to determine who is the state champion.
Rangely School District Superintendent Matt Scoggins said he expects that Way and Burri, who is a student in Meeker on Rangely’s team, will perform to the best of their abilities and represent the Rangely team well at the tournament.
