RBC I Both golf courses in Rio Blanco County will host tournaments Saturday and all junior golfers are invited to the Meeker Golf Course for the annual Junior Golf Tournament Monday, July 29.
The first annual Kacey Pozorski Memorial Golf Tournament will be played Saturday in Meeker in a four-person scramble format. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Avery Michels, currently recovering from brain surgery. Golfers and guests can buy Mulligans and attend the lunch after the 18-hole tournament, which starts at 9 a.m.
“The community was there for Kacey’s family and we want to give back in our own way, through a golf tournament to benefit a local child and their family,” Tim Nelson, grandfather to the tournament’s namesake and one of the organizers said.
Nelson said there is still room for more teams to sign up by calling him at 970-249-6222 or the Meeker Golf Course at 878-5642.
The tournament in Rangely at Cedar Ridges Golf Course is also open for registration. Course manager Chris Hejl said more than 30 teams have signed up to play 27-holes and more teams can be added by calling him at 675-8403.
Hejl said the first nine holes are played in a scramble format, followed by best-ball format on the second nine and alternate shot after the final turn.
