High school teams start 2012 play Friday

RBC I Both Rio Blanco County high school wrestling teams will travel across the state line to open the 2012 season at the Tournament of Champions in Vernal, Utah, and three of the local basketball teams will host at least one home game this weekend.
The Rangely Panthers boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play in Collbran against the Plateau Valley Cowboys Friday. The boys will host DeBeque Saturday with the JV starting at 1 p.m. and the varsity at 2:30 p.m.
The Meeker Cowboys boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will host games Friday and Saturday, playing Hayden Friday and Vail Christian Saturday. JV games will precede the Meeker varsity girls, who are scheduled to tipoff against Hayden at 5:30 p.m., with the boys game to follow. JV games will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the varsity girls starting at 2:30 p.m. and the boys at 4 p.m. against Vail Christian.
