MEEKER | Amy May of Meeker is this week’s “home of” honoree. Amy has been a Meeker resident for 16 years.
Amy is the director of surgical services for Pioneers Medical Center. She has worked for PMC for 15 years.
Amy has one daughter, Julie Chute of Meeker. Amy also has six grandchildren: Alora Harper, 11; Savana May, 11; Isaac Harper, 9; Jayda May, 5; Annalyse Harper, 4; and Sawyer May, 3. All of her grandchildren reside in Meeker.
Amy has gone on surgical missions to Guatemala with Hospital De La Famiglia since 2002. Last year was her first surgical mission to Africa with The Mercy Ship. She heard about surgical missions on television and was interested, then a surgical nursing conference she attended had a booth with more information that led her to volunteer.
Amy enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. “I also enjoy reading, sewing ñ when I have time ñ cross country skiing, traveling and visiting friends and family,” she said.
“I love the people in Meeker and it’s beautiful. I look out my window and it’s amazing. I’m very fortunate,” Amy added.
