MEEKER | Julie Jansen of Meeker is this week’s “home of” honoree. Julie has lived in Meeker for 25 years. She has worked at Pioneers Hospital and Valley Grocery. She is a Class B CDL truck driver, works for a pipeline, as needed, and has recently been a highway construction flagger.
Julie has a small ranching operation. She raises cattle and horses. “I enjoy my cows and my horses or I wouldn’t be doing it. I stay busy in the summertime irrigating and in the wintertime feeding,” Julie said.
Julie has three daughters: DeeAnn Goedert and husband Terry of Meeker have three boys Kylloe, Ty and Reed and two daughters Faith Ann, Sarina; Betty Jo Cloninger and husband Austin of Fountain have two sons Peyton and Orin and a daughter Alyta; and Jeannie Allen and husband Blue of Alamosa have a son Caden.
“I like to paint ranch scenes, landscapes and wildlife. I also enjoy doing crafty type woodworking. I like spending time with my kids and grandkids and going to my grandkids’ volleyball, wrestling and basketball games. My grandkids also are involved with 4-H,” Julie said.
“Meeker is a great place to live. I like its remoteness. I like my space. I like the small town atmosphere here. I know a lot of people and a lot of people know me. Being able to own my own property is important to me,” Julie added.
