Home of… Leonard & Peggy Reck

MEEKER | Leonard and Peggy Reck of Meeker are this week’s “home of” honorees. They met in Virginia Beach, Va. when Leonard was in the Navy and Peggy was working at an auto parts store. After Leonard completed his six-year tour of duty with the Navy, Peggy and Leonard moved to Meeker in 1990 for Leonard’s job with TIC. They were married on their way here.
Leonard worked for TIC for one year building the Natural Soda plant. He was then hired by Natural Soda, where he has worked for the past 20 years. Leonard is Natural Soda’s packaging supervisor and purchasing agent.
Peggy has worked for Watt’s Ranch Market, the VFW, had a housekeeping contract with Elk Creek and for the past three years has been the manager at White River Liquor.
The Recks have five children: son James Lantz of Meeker; daughter Jamie Reck and her daughter Norah Loar of Gunnison; son Patrick Reck of Phippsburg; son Jason Reck of Galena, Ill.; and son James Pangle of Indianapolis, Ind.
Leonard and Peggy enjoy spending time with their 18-month old granddaughter and love to bowl. “Leonard’s dad has a bunch of 300 bowling rings, so Leonard was born in a bowling alley,” Peggy said.
They enjoy touring on their Harley Davidson street bike. Leonard likes hunting, fishing, camping and motorized recreation. Peggy is a “homebody.” She likes to read, sew and enjoys home improvement projects.
The Recks appreciate “the people and hometown feeling” of Meeker.
