MEEKER | Luke and Annie Purcell of Meeker are this week’s “home of” honorees.
“We’ve lived here most of our lives. I moved here in the fifth grade and Luke has lived here off and on,” Annie said. Both Luke and Annie attended Meeker schools. They were married Dec. 9, 1995. Luke’s parents, Linda and Jerry Purcell, Annie’s parents, Judy and Thad Hauck, Annie’s grandmother Roberta Cook and Annie’s sisters Deanna Lawson and Kim Asselin also live in Meeker. Annie’s grandmother Margaret Davis, formerly of Meeker, lives in Roosevelt, Utah.
Luke is a self-employed certified welder and a member of Meeker Search and Rescue. Annie is the office manager for the Rio Blanco County Fire Protection District.
The Purcells have four sons: Sterling Purcell, 19, resides in Sheridan, Wyo.; Austin Purcell, 15, is a freshman at Meeker High School, and twins Cole and Cody, 14, are eighth-graders at Barone Middle School. The boys are involved in 4-H. They raise market livestock, sheep and pigs.
“We enjoy outdoor activities, pretty much anything outdoors. We like rock crawling, camping and snowmobiling. We like doing things with our family,” Annie explained.
“I like the small town atmosphere of Meeker where everybody knows you. Meeker is our home,” Annie ended.
