RANGELY | Rangely residents Ryan and Merilee Slack are this week’s “home of” honorees. They moved to Rangely from Palisade seven years ago. Ryan and Merilee will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary Nov. 30.
Ryan is a self-employed oil field service contractor. Merilee is a full-time mom and homemaker.
The Slacks have four sons: Andrew, 7, Jeffrey, 6, Douglas, 4 and Finian, 2.
Merilee trains and runs in triathlons – bicycling, swimming and running. She has run a triathlon in Utah, one in Idaho and one in Colorado. She has also participated in races, not triathlons, with Joe Nielsen of Rangely and his family. Merilee just competed in the Red Rock Relay in Cedar City, Utah, which is a 189-mile relay race. She ran a 20-mile stretch of the relay. Joe and Leslie Nielsen and their daughter, also from Rangely, ran in the same race. Ryan enjoys shooting sports, mountaineering and hiking. He has climbed 22 of Colorado’s 54 fourteeners.
Ryan likes living in Rangely. “We have a great rec center, great people and living out in the country we can shoot off our back porch. It’s is a great place to raise our boys,” said Ryan.
