MEEKER I Christy Whitney, President and CEO of HopeWest, a Colorado non-profit hospice and palliative care organization, was recently honored with the Community Visionary Award from the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce.
The organization has come a long way in the last 22 years. In 1993, Whitney sat down at her kitchen table and hired her first employee in Mesa County. Today, HopeWest, the organization she built, has 350 employees and 1,500 dedicated volunteers.
HopeWest provides care to more than 7,000 square miles of the Western Slope of Colorado with offices in Grand Junction, Delta, Montrose, Collbran and Meeker.
“Starting an organization requires commitment and inspiration,” said Greg Motz, board chair of the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce.
