Tonya Morris of Meeker won Best Costume award at the NewHope-Meeker Holiday Ball on Saturday. The ball was held to raise funds for the NewHope-Meeker Palliative Care Program planned in conjunction with Pioneers Medical Center in Meeker. The program will help families take care of relatives in the last stages of their lives.
Two of the crowd’s favorite costumes at the HopeWest-Meeker Halloween Ball on Saturday night belonged to Dale and Jill Dunbar of Meeker. The Fairfield Center was well festooned by Bev Steinman and her decorating committee and included a silent auction, costume contests and a dinner-dance.
Christy Whitney, the president and CEO of HopeWest in Grand Junction, was emcee for much of the fundraising event on Saturday evening at the Fairfield Center in Meeker to help fund the startup of HopeWest-Meeker, a palliative care program that cares for dying and terminally ill patients who can’t help themselves and who don’t want to die in a hospital. The program should be in place by the end of December and joins HopeWest with Pioneers Medical Center staffing, office space and office equipment.
