RANGELY I This past weekend the Rangely Hurricanes competed in the Craig ABC open swim meet. During the three-day event the swimmers had some great times despite lightning delays cold temperatures and rain on Sunday. After training in their indoor facility in Rangely, the Hurricanes were challenged by the elements that come with an outdoor pool yet came through with some amazing times.
The Hurricanes had 22 swimmers at the Craig meet where more than 160 athletes representing eight Western Slope teams competed. The swimmers walked away with 38 first place finishes, 24 second place finishes, 22 third place finishes and a number of other very competitive finishes. High-point trophies were won by Travis Coates, Caleb Noel, William Scoggins and Patrick Scoggins.
Swimming at the meet for the Hurricanes were Geli Brown, Travis Coates, Makenze Cochrane, Gavin Lancaster, Grant Lancaster, Alexis Lopez, Corbin Lucero, Joseph McKay, Andrew Morton, Marie Morton, Caleb Noel, Colton Noel, Norrah Patch, Justin Prosser, Kelsey Prosser, Mary Scoggins, Timothy Scoggins, Patrick Scoggins, William Scoggins, Alexsis Silva-McKay, Tessa Slagle and Korrynn Wenzel.
