RBC — In a report released by the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, the total number of incidents received through the communications center decreased from 1,265 incidents in July 2007 to 1,155 incidents in July 2008. However, the total number of incidents logged by the communications center in 2008 has increased 2.28 percent over 2007 year-to-date totals.
During July 2008, the sheriff’s office calls for service remained the same as July 2007 totals with 309 calls.
Traffic stops for the sheriff’s office decreased from 644 in July 2007 to 482 in July 2008.
The Meeker Police Department’s calls for service increased in July 2008 with 247 calls up from 235 calls in July 2007.
Traffic stops also increased for the Meeker P.D. with 63 traffic stops in July 2008 up from 17 in July 2007.
The most noteworthy incident classification totals for both the sheriff’s office and the Meeker P.D. for July 2008 are as follows: 545 traffic stops; 54 VIN inspections; 46 disturbances; 44 animal calls; 42 suspicious incidents; 41 traffic complaints; 28 traffic arrests; 27 motorist assists; 22 citizen assists; 20 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 20 thefts; 18 fire calls; 17 warrant arrests; 15 accidents with property damage; 15 civil situations; 12 911 hang-up calls; eight MIP/liquor violations; eight narcotics cases; seven DUI’s, five domestic violence cases; five harassment cases; four injury accidents; four assaults; three trespass cases; two criminal mischief cases; two fraud cases; one hit and run accident; one burglary; one restraining order violation and one sexual assault.
The Rio Blanco County Detention Center had an average daily inmate population of 17.19 inmates in July 2008 with 15.87 males and 1.32 females.
A total of 101 people were booked into the detention center with 88 jailed and 13 booked and released. The detention center also served 1,343 meals during the month. Prisoners serving with work release were billed for 76 man days totaling $3,040.
