RANGELY I Colorado Northwestern Community College rodeo coach Jed Moore took a new approach to the recent winter carnival that has become an annual tradition in Steamboat Springs.
Moore invited several cowboys and cowgirls who have spinal cord injuries to join them in the 40th anniversary of the Bud Light® Cowboy Downhill.
Amberley Snyder and Billie Sutton accepted the challenge.
Jed Moore has been going to the Cowboy Downhill for 16 years.
“I first came to the idea of having some of my injured cowboy and cowgirl friends join me at the Cowboy Downhill a few years ago,” he said. “This winter I decided to make it happen.”
Moore said he contacted Traci Allen with the Cowboy Downhill committee and Craig Kennedy with Steamboat STARS Adaptive Skiing Program.
“My goal for having these guys here is to give them some recognition for all of the hard work that they put in even after a life-changing accident and to also possibly inspire someone who may have been in a (similar) accident.”
